Screencasts demonstrating Memetic

We strongly recommend that you get yourself a coffee and watch these screencasts to get up and running quickly with Memetic.

Getting Help

Please view the Online Help. You may be able to get direct support from the memetic team by e-mailing memetic-support@listserv.manchester.ac.uk, but this may be limited as the project has now finished.

Bugs/Feature Requests

Please don't hesitate to report bugs and make feature requests. We use Bugzilla to track bugs. Please register and enter bugs/feature requests at:
http://kato.mvc.mcc.ac.uk/bugzilla. Note that since the project has finished, we may not be able to fix any bugs reported.

Known Issues

The following is a list of problems that we know about:

  • Error messages during the replay may appear behind the audio/video display.
  • Your popup blocker may be activated when replaying a meeting.

Installing your own Memetic Server

If you would like to install your own Memetic server, you will require a machine with:

  • A modern processor e.g. a 3Ghz would work fine for a small number of users, but for a large user base, a dual processor machine is recommended.
  • A large amount of memory e.g. 1GB for a small user base, 2GB or more for a large user base.
  • A large hard disk; the size of each recording depends on the number of participants, but for a medium sized meeting with ScreenStreamer, the disk space is about 2GB per hour.
  • The Java Runtime Environment version 1.5 (available from here).

Please click here to install the server (33MB download using Java Web Start).

Source Code

The Memetic Server source code is released under a BSD style open source license.

You can download the source code, including all libraries, from here (33MB jar file).
